4 free feel-good things to do in Bondi

They say that the best things in life are free; however, it’s very rare to find fun activities that won’t drain your wallet – especially in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. I feel like money pours out of my pocket as soon as I leave the house.

Walking along the beach is definitely a great way to feel good for free, but sometimes you might feel like a change. Here are some fabulous group activities and workshops in Bondi that you can get involved in, and they will cost you nothing but a smile.

1. Free yoga or a surf lesson at Fluro Fridays

Run by three local surfers who started an organisation called ‘One Wave is All It Takes’, Fluro Friday aims to provide a friendly place for discussions about mental health.

Sufferers, supporters and survivors are encouraged to come together each Friday morning, dressed in as much or as little fluro clothing as they like, to raise awareness and support for mental health issues while they surf or take a yoga class.

If you don’t know how to surf, these guys could be the ones to put you onto your first wave!

If you’re not a surfer, you can join the free Fluro Fridays yoga class with the Namaste Bitches.

Fluro Fridays start at 6.30am at the south end of Bondi Beach (visit the One Wave website or Namaste Bitches Facebook page for more info).

2. Free your mind for free at Reboot Camp

Reboot Camp offers free sunrise group meditations every Thursday morning. Everyone is welcome and there’s nothing to pay. All you have to do is meet five minutes before sunrise at the south end of Bondi Beach – look for the Reboot Camp sign stuck in the sand.

For more information go to bondimeditation.com.au/group-meditations

3. Shake your booty for free

Latin Junction dance studio holds Salsa dancing classes ‘for people who wouldn’t go to dance classes’ – and they offer newbies two week’s worth of classes for free (the offer pops up on their website if you scroll down a bit)!

Salsa dancing is such a wonderful activity for meeting people, and a really fun way to work out if you don’t really like exercise. Even if you have two left feet, you’ll have fun stepping on your new friend’s shoes.

The Latin Junction studio is located at 51-53 Spring Street, Bondi Junction. Check their website www.latinjunction.com.au for more information.

4. Free music and story time for little ones

Rocking Rhyme Time is a fun, free activity to enjoy with your wriggly child, specifically for children aged 2-3. It’s a music, movement and play story-time session all in one.

It happens every Thursday at 10am during school term at Waverley Library (32-48 Denison St, Bondi Junction). Be sure to arrive early as they only hand out 25 tickets. Head to www.waverley.nsw.gov.au for more information.
