If you love the glamour and excitement of the races but hate leaving Bondi’s sun-soaked beach vibe behind, The Bucket List is about to make you feel more at home while at the races as it adds a splash of surf to the turf.
During the five Saturdays of the Spring Carnival, culminating in the Melbourne cup on November 3rd, Bondi waterfront bar and eatery The Bucket List will be running a pop-up beach themed marquee trackside at Royal Randwick Turf Club.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate with the Australian Turf Club this Sydney Spring Carnival,” said Andy Ruwald, co-owner of The Bucket List. “We are literally bringing the surf to the turf and building a giant beach club, which has never been done before. Expect lots of colour and theming. This is an opportunity to combine the best of The Bucket List and its fun and lively vibe, with our appreciation and love for a day at the races, all in one location.”
Bucket List chef, Tom Walton, will showcase some of his favourite beachside fare with a seafood focus on the menu. Dishes appearing on the new Spring menu which may make an appearance at the Royal Randwick beach club pop-up include Queensland fresh prawn and truffle rolls with celery and herbs, fish & chips, and tuna poke tostados with avocado, soy, sesame and shallots.
Ticket holders can also expect signature cocktails and drinks in addition to an all-star line up of live entertainment with some of Sydney’s best DJs performing throughout the day, including Daimon Downey and Alex Dimitriades.
Guests of The Bucket List event are encouraged to don classic Spring racing fashion combined with a touch of relaxed beachside chic as inspired by the venue, location and season.
That sounds like a mighty fine fashion challenge and I’m looking forward to seeing what this tailored vs. tousled combination could inspire.
“We’re looking forward to seeing all our Bondi regulars in a suit and tie having fun at the races,” said Andy. “We usually see them all in shorts and thongs fresh off beach, so it will be awesome seeing them looking sharp in racing attire. We’re also looking forward to getting amongst the racing vibe and taking our venue to a whole new level”.
Sydney’s Spring Carnival of racing begins on October 3rd at Royal Randwick with Epsom Day, so race-goers have less than two weeks to pick out their fascinators, get their shoes shined and work out how to add a touch of ‘relaxed beachside chic’ to their ensemble.
Organisers have limited guests to a capacity of 1,000 race-goers per event. You can buy tickets to the exclusive marquee via Ticketek. Tickets include entrance to Royal Randwick, access to The Bucket List beach club marquee, two alcoholic beverages and a meal.
Giddy up! Can’t wait to see those ‘beachside chic’ Instagram pics.
